Online Assessments In Development

Manatoa’s summative assessments are aligned with the new NZC maths curriculum and can be used as practical alternatives to tools like e-asTTle, IKAN, GLoSS, and PAT—providing meaningful data to support teaching and reporting, while we wait for new resources to be developed by the Ministry of Education.

NZ Maths Curriculum Explorer New

In 2025, the New Zealand Ministry of Education released a refreshed Maths & Statistics and English for Years 0–8 and 0–6, respectively.

Each curriculum includes a clear “teaching sequence” showing the knowledge, skills, and competencies to introduce at every year level. By mapping out a structured progression, these sequences help teachers gradually build on prior learning.

Unfortunately, the useful information in these documents is not in a mobile-friendly format.

Our curriculum explorer provides a mobile-friendly way to explore the teaching sequences for the refreshed curriculum.

We've also started annotating the ministry's teaching sequences with useful links and resources:

  • Definitions of key terms
  • Worked examples
  • Links to YouTube videos
  • Links to free resources
